OER - Open Educational Resources: PCC OER Grants

This guide is designed to help PCC faculty find, create and incorporate open educational resources for classes.

PCC OER Grants: '24-'25 Pilot Year

The OER Steering Committee is delighted to announce that the PCC OER Grant program!  This program provides funding for PCC faculty and APs who plan to adopt, revise, or maintain open educational resources for their classes.  

Grant Types and Award Levels

For all grant types, PCC OER must conform to Web Accessibility Content Guidelines and afford multiple formats.  AEDR consultation and support will be provided to all grantees in order to support this work.

Adopt ($1000 per person): Adopt an existing OER with little revision to the content. 

Adapt/Revise/Remix ($2000 per person): Adapt content in one of the following ways: 

  • Adapt existing OER, with major revisions.

  • Use multiple existing OER to create course content.

  • Use a mixture of existing OER and original content.

  • Develop supplemental materials (e.g., test bank, lab manual) for an OER already in use.

Maintain/update ($1200 per person): Update OER currently in use; includes editing for currency and relevance, creating interactive content or ancillary materials.

Other (award levels vary): Some limited grants may be awarded for OER-related activities not described by other categories.


Additionally, grant applicants may include a thinking partner/consultant on their project team.  These are faculty colleagues with previous OER experience or other relevant experience who will receive $400 to consult with and support the project team.

Applications should be submitted by November 1, 2024 for best consideration.  All work for the '24-'25 grants must be complete by June 21, 2025.

Requirements

  • Open to all PCC faculty and AP

If selected, awardees commit to:

  • Attend a one-hour kickoff meeting

  • PCC OER must conform to Web Accessibility Content Guidelines and afford multiple formats.  AEDR consultation and support will be provided to all grantees in order to support this requirement. 

  • License any work with a CC license and fill out PCC Creative Commons form

  • Make materials publicly available

  • Complete evaluation at conclusion of grant and after teaching the class

  • Sharing with SAC or program and/or the College

 

In addition to monetary support, grantees will receive support from the OER Steering Committee, AEDR, the PCC Copyright Committee and liaison librarians and access to peer support email lists and drop-in support sessions.

Timeline

November 1, 2024:  Applications due for best consideration

End of Fall term:  All grantees notified

Winter term: Additional round of grants will be issued for '24-'25, if funds remain.  Application for '25-'26 will be announced.

June 21, 2025: All work on '24-'25 grants must be complete
