Northstar Digital Literacy

Step 1: Create your Northstar account

Create your Northstar learner account to unlock access to assessments and tutorials.

  • You need your first name, last name, and an email address. (We recommend you use your PCC email address.)
  • You will receive a confirmation email with your Northstar account information and instructions for setting a password.

Step 2: Log into Northstar

Log in to your Northstar learner account. You will be taken to a webpage with a list of digital literacy topics and assessments.

Step 3: Improve your skills

  1. Select an assessment to take.
  2. If this is your first time using Northstar, watch the orientation video.
  3. Work through the assessment and submit your answers. You will see which skills you have mastered and which you need to improve. For the skills to improve, click on the Practice link (if available) to learn more about that subject.
  4. A score of 85% is considered passing. You can take the assessment as many times as you like.
  5. After you pass an assessment, you can claim a digital badge to show you have mastered this skill. You can also print a page to show to an instructor.

Helpful tips

Helpful tip iconHelpful tip:  To return to the tutorial homepage when you are working in the tutorial, select the Northstar Online Learning logo in the upper left corner of the tutorial window. Your tutorial progress will be saved.

To see your dashboard with the record of the assessments you have taken, select the "Northstar Online Learning" link from the dropdown menu by your name.
