Climate Change
Guide to climate change, including research resources and discipline-specific tools
Climate and AI (artificial intelligence)
The explosive growth of artificial intelligence impacts most aspects of modern life, including efforts to address climate change. AI model training requires immense processing power, and tech companies including Google, Microsoft and Amazon are rapidly building new data centers and escalating water and energy consumption. While the increase in demand for energy resulting from the growth of generative AI is beyond dispute, the net impact of AI on climate mitigation is complex and a source of debate.
