West African Music from the 1970s.
During the 1970s, ethnomusicologist James Koetting traveled to Ghana and recorded 142 reels of musical performances from arts festivals, traditional ceremonies and events, stage concerts, church services, and informal gatherings and sessions.
The entire collection, which includes sections of Koetting's notebooks, a gallery of images, and a list of additional resources, is accessible online through the Brown University Library. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about West African traditional and popular music.
