Addiction Counseling: Browse Journals
Browse Journals related to Addiction or Counseling
There are two ways that people doing research usually look for articles:
1. Search for articles on a specific topic in a library database, which is a searchable collection of thousands of different journals. You can learn how to do that on the Find Articles tab.
2. Search for a specific journal, or journals in your discipline, and browse them for articles. You can learn how to do that on this page!
Browse Journals
Want to see which journals we have access to related to addiction counseling? Type a subject term into the search box in the middle of the library website. For example: addiction or counseling or substance abuse.
You will see all kinds of items (books, videos, ebooks etc) -- to find just the journals, go to Format on the left side of the screen, and then checkmark Journals and click Apply Filters, as shown in the screenshot below.
You will now see a list of journals related to the subject you searched for. Click the Online Access link underneath a journal title you are interested in browsing. This will show you which library databases have access to that journal, and which years are covered. When you click on the database, it should take you to a record for the journal, where you can browse through issues by date or search for articles on a specific topic of interest within that journal.
Find a Specific Journal
To find out whether PCC has access to a specific journal, use the search box in the middle of the front page of the library website. Search for the title of the journal. You may want to put the title in quotes so that it searches for the exact words of the title in order.
In the results, you will be looking for a result with the journal icon next to it. You may need to limit your results to just journals. To do this, go to the Format limiter on the left-hand side of the page and put a check mark next to Journals, then click Apply Filters.
If you see "online access" under your journal title (as in the image below) click there to see what access we have. Then click on the database that has the most current access.
When you click on the database, it should take you to a record for the journal, where you can browse through issues by date or search for articles on a specific topic of interest within that journal.
