Paraeducation: Getting Started

The Paraeducation program is designed to give students a variety of skills, including individual instruction, group instruction, behavior management, interpersonal and intercultural communication with adults and students, and personal growth.

This guide will help you find books, articles, web sites and other resources related to the education of young children, and to paraeducators' work in the classroom. What do paraeducators, or teacher assistants do? Learn about the job from the Occupational Outlook Handbook.

  • Professional Websites​ - Browse websites of professional organizations to learn about issues in education.
  • Get Help - Get help from a librarian 24x7, get support from a tutor, or find a handout or tutorial to help you with your research.
